The lyrical event of the summer in Québec City!
For its 10th edition, the Festival d’opéra de Québec innovates and aims to surprise festivalgoers. The main production will feature rarely performed works with this concert comprising some of French opera’s finest arias, ranging from Gluck to Poulenc as well as Offenbach, Bizet and Massenet. Journey through 200 years of opera history in France with works featuring timeless themes and decidedly contemporary issues, which have lost none of their ability to touch and move us.
Carmen, Samson et Dalila, La Fille du Régiment, Faust… Be won over by these melodies taken from popular operas, discover lesser known masterpieces as well as others composed in French by Italian masters such as Rossini and Donizetti. With a program performed entirely in the language of Molière, appealing to music lovers new to this art form as well as enthusiasts eager for novelty alike, this concert offers a unique opportunity to hear remarkable works not often heard in public.
This exceptional event will feature 10 Quebec and Canadian artists celebrated on international stages and whose careers have taken them to some of the most prestigious opera houses in North America, Europe and Asia. They will be accompanied by the Orchestre symphonique de Québec under the musical leadership of Jean-Marie Zeitouni.
Please note that this concert will be recorded with a live audience, in the Louis-Fréchette hall of the Grand Théâtre de Québec, and will be broadcast online at a later date.
