Pluie

In case of light rain, the activities will still take place.

If the rain gets heavier, the performers will have to stop playing to protect their instruments and equipment. Since we can’t rule out a passing shower, an activity may be temporarily or permanently interrupted depending on the time.

If a day of heavy rain is expected, we will cancel the activities and announce it officially on social media

LYRIC
BRIGADE

For its 15th edition, the Festival d’opéra de Québec proudly marks the return of its highly popular Lyric Brigade (Brigade lyrique). Composed of four singers and a pianist, this ensemble goes out to meet the public by performing in parks and public spaces throughout Québec City during the Festival. It offers a unique opportunity to discover some of the most beautiful arias and ensembles from the operatic repertoire in a warm, relaxed, and summery atmosphere.
These free performances take place on a specially designed mobile stage inspired by traveling theatre. Moving from one location to another, this intimate setting brings to life the project’s founding vision: bringing opera to the public rather than waiting for the public to come to the opera. The program features some of the most celebrated works from the lyrical repertoire, offering an artistic experience that is accessible, festive, and of high quality.
Approximate duration: 40 minutes
Schedule: July 21 to July 31 at 12 p.m.

OPERETTA
BRIGADE

The Fiddler (Le Violoneux) by Jacques Offenbach
One-act operetta
Libretto by Eugène Mestépès and Émile Chevalet
In a small village, a young man who has been called up for military service is desperately trying to escape his fate. His fiancée and his godfather, the village fiddler, elaborate a clever plan to help him. Amid superstition, love, and unexpected twists of fate, a violin with a mysterious past becomes the heart of the story. This charming and witty tale reminds us that music has the power to change lives.

OPERA
CIRCUIT

The Opera Circuit (Circuit opera) is a self-guided walking tour through the heart of downtown Québec City, celebrating the city’s musical, historical, and architectural heritage through the art of opera.
The 2026 edition invites the public to (re)discover several emblematic sites of religious heritage, whose history is closely linked to the rise of the operatic repertoire. Over the centuries, these spaces have hosted many performers who helped shape and elevate this art form. The tour takes place outdoors, while the musical performances come to life inside these heritage sites.
At each stop, participants are welcomed with short performances of opera, operetta, or art songs, presented by lyric artists accompanied by instrumentalists, creating an immersive experience where heritage and music come together.
Approximate duration: 10 to 15 minutes
Schedule: daily from July 21 to July 31.
