The Festival d’opéra de Québec, the only French-language opera festival in North America, offers fifteen days of full immersion in the world of opera each summer. La bohème is one of opera’s most beautiful love stories. A flame that burns brightly, only to be extinguished too soon… This production marks Clemens Schuldt’s debut at the Opéra de Québec. The conductor’s complicity with his orchestra brings a unique energy to the production, which offers its fabulous cast the ideal musical setting in which to shine. And we can count on Jacques Leblanc’s talent as stage director to move us with this magnificent poetry of everyday life!
With Orpheus and Eurydice, Gluck gives lyric theatre one of its purest forms. Through this love story that reaches beyond death, the work explores absence, doubt, and the fear of losing the beloved, while also evoking the power of art when faced with all that escapes our grasp.
With Tosca, Puccini drives opera to a shattering level of dramatic intensity. Against a backdrop of power, jealousy, corruption and betrayal, the work sustains an almost unbearable tension, where the personal and the political intertwine at every turn.
The Opéra de Québec renews its commitment to making opera accessible to everyone, regardless of background or artistic knowledge. In this spirit, the Opéra is pleased to add 30 tickets at $30 for each performance, in addition to creating a package for La Cenerentola to enable families to discover opera. In all, nearly 650 seats will be sold at a lower cost than in 2019.
